1st XV through to Towergate Final

The 1st XV came up against a tough Carmarthen Athletic side in the semi-final last night but dug deep to gain a place in the final with a 38-21 win.

The score doesn’t really give credit to Carmarthen who put the boys under a huge amount of pressure especially in the second half with the score at one stage at 24-21. However, a charge down and subsequent try by fly half Dan Bennett along with a galloping run from replacement prop Ryan Roberts resulting in a try by Alex Margetts put the game to bed.

To recap the Uplands points came from tries by Dan Stephens, Ben Ghose, Tom Crowley, Dan Bennett & Alex Margetts.  The remainder of the points came from Pete Anson with 5 conversions and a penalty.

The final will be at the end of the league season on a date and venue to be confirmed.

We wish Carmarthen Athletic all the best for the rest of the season.  A big thank you goes to Ammanford RFC for their excellent pre- and post-match hospitality along with all our supporters who made the trip to cheer the boys on.

We are back in league action on Saturday when we visit Maesteg Celtic  the game is a  2.30pm kick-off.
